Hello!
We’re Kathleen and Peter—a fifth-grade teacher and a small business guy, proud parents to three grown children: Lydia, Sophie, and Pierce.

Over the past 20 years, our little corner of North Carolina has given us so much to love: a connection to the land, the animals we care for, and, most of all, the wonderful friends who have become part of our lives.

As Bedford Falls Farm grows into its next chapter, we’re excited to share this place with others.
For us, the joy is in tending the farm, spending time together, and welcoming friends—old and new.

Our Story
Our story is one of family, friendship, and a farm that keeps giving us new reasons to fall in love with it.
Bedford Falls Farm began in 1998, when Doug and Nancy Rondeau started raising alpacas. Through years of dedicated care and thoughtful breeding, they became nationally recognized for their award-winning animals and helped introduce others to the beauty and gentle nature of these remarkable livestock. They built a farm with a character and spirit that continue to shape this place today.

In 2024, after Doug went to heaven, we became the full-time caretakers of the land. Taking on that responsibility has been both deeply personal and full of possibility. We are grateful to carry forward what Doug and Nancy began while discovering what the farm’s next chapter can become.

We each bring a different kind of experience to that work. Kathleen has been a schoolteacher for more than 20 years, and her love of learning reaches well beyond her fifth-grade classroom. On the farm, there is always something new to understand, something to try, and something worth sharing. She brings that same curiosity and joy in helping others learn to everything we’re growing here.

Peter is a small business guy at heart, with a background in entrepreneurship and creating practical solutions that help other business owners succeed. The farm offers a new outlet for that energy: working with our hands, thinking creatively, and turning a shared vision into something we can watch take root.

We’re also proud parents to three grown children—Lydia, Sophie, and Pierce. Over the past 20 years, our little corner of North Carolina has become an important part of our family’s life.
We love the land and the animals, but the friendships we’ve made here mean just as much. The people who surround us have made this place feel like home.

Now, we’re beginning an exciting new chapter as a lavender grower and flower farm. Our first lavender field in 2026 marks the beginning, with plans to add wildflowers, peonies, and honeybees in 2027. Looking ahead, we envision a welcoming destination for days among the flowers, photography sessions, intimate weddings, and small celebrations. We also dream of bringing new life to the old homestead as a farm store.

We’re growing into that vision one season at a time, and enjoying the small milestones along the way. We hope you’ll follow our progress—and, as our plans take shape, come pay us a visit.

There’s so much we look forward to sharing with you. This is living!
